Also this year, the Port System Authority of the Ionian Sea (AdSPMI) is joining the Italian Port Days 2020 initiative (www.italianportdays.it), launched during the previous year by Assoporti, the Association of Italian Ports, in order to promote, through the slogan "opening port life and culture to people", joint and coordinated promotion of ports and the culture of the sea, in synergy between the national Port System Authorities.
From 8 to 10 October 2020, the port city of Taranto will be the setting for three days full of cultural and artistic events, with debates and tours of the port, during which particular emphasis will be placed on themes linked to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In 2019, the initiative was a great success nationwide and was also publicly endorsed by both ESPO, the European Sea Ports Organisation, and AIVP, the International Association of Ports-Cities, which considered Port Days as a good example of promoting port culture at international level, including the initiative as one of the most important ones in its 2030 Agenda.
