New Management Committee of the Ionian Sea Port Authority officially takes office

PORTO OF TARANTO, 22 DECEMBER 2025  - The new Management Committee of the Ionian Sea Port Authority – Port of Taranto officially took office this morning. The collegiate body was established by Decree No. 120 of 19 November 2025 and will remain in office for the four-year term 2025–2029.

The Management Committee is entrusted with the functions set out in Article 9 of Law No. 84/1994, as amended by Legislative Decree No. 169/2016. In accordance with the applicable legislation, the Management Committee is composed of the President of the Port Authority (who chairs the Committee), the Maritime Director having jurisdiction over the port where the Port Authority is based, and – upon designation by the latter – a representative of the competent Maritime Authority in relation to the matters addressed concerning the ports included within the Port Authority. The Committee also includes members who meet the requirements of “proven experience and professional qualifications in the fields of transport economics and port activities”, appointed by the Regional Authority and by the Mayor of the Municipality within whose territory the Port Authority operates (see the dedicated page on the AdSPMI website).

With the appointment of Giovanni Gugliotti as President on 12 November and the formal establishment of the Management Committee today, the renewed governance structure of the Ionian Sea Port Authority is now fully in place, marking the start of a new management phase for the Port of Taranto for the four-year period 2025–2029.
