SMART PORT AWARDS 2024: Prestigious award for the port of Taranto at the Remtech Expo.
PORT OF TARANTO, 19 SEPTEMBER 2024 - The Port of Taranto is among the national ports awarded during the prestigious Smart Port Awards ceremony held yesterday in Ferrara on the occasion of the “Stati Generali degli Smart Ports”, an initiative promoted by RemTech Expo in collaboration with Assoporti.
The Award was handed to the President of the Port Network Authority of the Ionian Sea, Sergio Prete, who was honoured with this prestigious recognition for his daily commitment and strategic approach to ensuring a broad and systemic vision. His tangible actions to initiate fair transition processes and projects aimed at protecting, enhancing and developing the territory, representing an example of value and excellence for Italy, Europe and globally.
RemTech Expo is an international and permanent Environmental Technology Hub, specialising in the reclamation, regeneration and sustainable development of territories. It also serves as a permanent network of national and international experts and acts as a catalyst for the public and private sectors called to exchange their views, in a constructive and effective manner, to define new projects supporting the country.
President Prete also spoke during the round table on “Innovation and Sustainability in Italian Ports”, together with Federica Montaresi, Secretary General of the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea and Massimiliano Maccarone, Director of Area IV - Technical at the Port Authority of the Strait of Messina.
“Yesterday, I received with great satisfaction in Ferrara,” said President Prete, “the prestigious award, for which I would like once again to express my thanks also on behalf of the entire organisation I represent. I feel it is my duty to extend the merits of the Award primarily to the team of the Port Network Authority of the Ionian Sea for its constant commitment and the results achieved over the years. Due credit also goes to the stakeholders of the Ionian port who collaborated effectively with the strategy adopted by the Authority focused on the drivers of environmental and energy sustainability”.
