Ecowaves project has been accepted for funding under the Interreg V-B Adriatic Ionian Adrion Programme 2014-2020. It focuses on the issues of environmental vulnerability and protection of marine ecosystems and aims to build capacity to address international environmental challenges, fragmentation and protection of the marine and coastal ecosystem in the Adriatic-Ionian area. The project aims to protect marine and river resources in order to develop a transnational policy for the protection of the marine ecosystem and to combat marine environmental problems related to port maritime traffic, waste abandonment and inappropriate port waste management.
The project partnership is composed of: Port System Authority of the Ionian Sea - Lead Partner (IT), Port System Authority of the Central Adriatic Sea (IT), Port Authority of Igoumenitsa (GR), Rural Development Agency of the County of Zadar (CRO), Regional Development Agency of Northern Primorska Ltd Nova Gorica (SLO), Commercial Association for Sport, Leisure and Environmental Recovery ECO ZONE Ada Huja (SRB), Port of Vlora (ALB), Ministry of Transport for Maritime Affairs of Montenegro (MNE).
The project will also be supported by associated partners, such as: Arpa Puglia (IT), Environmental Protection Agency (SRB), JVP Beogradvode (SRB) and Port Authority of Zadar (CRO).
The overall project budget is equal to €2,395,000.01, of which €455,000.00 has been allocated to the AdSPMI, and will end on 31.08.2022
